Nevertheless, reports shall be received and investigated if the information provided is sufficient, even when submitted anonymously.

Include in the report as much supporting documentation as possible to help advance the investigation.

Any person may report a punishable offence to the competent authorities.

False Report: Pursuant to Article 435 of the Colombian Penal Code, "Any person who, under oath, reports to the authorities a typical offence that has not been committed shall be subject to imprisonment of sixteen (16) to thirty-six (36) months and a fine of two point sixty-six (2.66) to fifteen (15) current statutory monthly minimum wages.

False report against a specific person: Pursuant to Article 435 of the Colombian Penal Code, "Any person who, under oath, reports an individual as the perpetrator or accomplice of a typical offence that such person did not commit or in whose commission they did not participate, shall be subject to imprisonment of sixty-four (64) to one hundred and forty-four (144) months and a fine of two point sixty-six (2.66) to thirty (30) current statutory monthly minimum wages."
