FNA Expands Support Measures for Members Affected by the Earthquake
- Members with an active loan whose home was damaged by the earthquake may access fire and earthquake insurance coverage, with protection of up to 100% of the insured value and no deductible, in accordance with the policy terms.
- The coverage includes compensation for total or partial loss, an advance payment of up to 50% of the indemnity amount, and rental assistance of up to COP 2,200,000 per month for a maximum of three months when the property becomes uninhabitable.
- In addition, FNA is offering grace periods and options to modify loan terms for members who have experienced financial hardship as a result of the emergency.
Bogotá, D.C., Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The National Savings Fund (FNA) announced a series of protection and relief measures for members with active loans whose homes were damaged as a result of the earthquake.
Among the main measures is fire and earthquake insurance coverage, which may compensate up to 100% of the insured value and has no deductible; in other words, the member is not required to pay any portion of the covered loss under this concept, subject to the policy terms and conditions.
In the event of a total loss, the insurance will compensate the insured value of the property, excluding the land, furniture, and household belongings. In cases of partial loss, the policy will cover the cost of repairs necessary to restore the home, in accordance with the contracted coverage.
As part of the claims process, members may request an advance payment of up to 50% of the indemnity amount. If the home becomes uninhabitable due to the damage, members may also receive rental assistance of up to COP 2,200,000 per month for a maximum period of three months.
How to Report Damage
Members whose homes have been affected may begin the claims process so that their case can be evaluated according to the coverage conditions, within the following deadlines:
- Notice of loss: Within 90 days from the date the damage became known.
- Formal claim: Up to two years from the date of the loss, with all required documentation submitted.
Claims may be sent via email to [email protected] or filed at any FNA service point.
- Claim letter.
- Citizenship identification card.
- Repair cost estimate.
- Photographs of the damage.
- Report from the competent authority if the property is uninhabitable.
Once all required documents have been received, HDI Seguros will have a maximum period of one month to issue a response.
Members are encouraged to document the damage with photographs or videos whenever doing so does not pose a safety risk, and to avoid carrying out permanent repairs before the adjuster’s inspection. The adjuster is the professional responsible for inspecting and assessing the property to determine the scope of the claim.
Loan Relief Measures
Members whose financial capacity has been affected by the earthquake may request a grace period, allowing them to temporarily suspend loan payments and ease their financial burden.
Members may also request a loan modification. Measures that may be considered include extending the loan term or changing the amortization system, depending on each member’s circumstances and the characteristics of the loan.
